Taebaek Festival

The 45th Taebaek Festival is a citizen-participatory festival that will be held for two days, from October 2 to October 3, 2026, in the area surrounding Taebaek-si City Hall. The slogan is “Taebaek-si Citizens’ Grand Festival of Mutual Prosperity and Harmony,” and the event is hosted and organized by the Taebaek-si Cultural Foundation, with support from Taebaek-si, the Taebaek-si Council, and Gangwon Land Co., Ltd. The festival is designed to open the Taebaek-si City Hall building as a citizen-centered space for communication and to allow citizens to participate and enjoy the event together through programs that bridge generations. Key programs include a recreational competition featuring all eight city districts of Taebaek-si, a special concert for Taebaek-si citizens, the Taebaek Culinary Masters Competition, a high-altitude kimchi-making experience, the Taebaek Song Festival, and a community self-governance competition. In addition, the festival features a variety of ongoing programs, including a photo exhibition and photo zones showcasing Taebaek’s history, a Taebaek Oxygen Healing Zone, family-oriented hands-on activities, and promotional booths from related organizations. Furthermore, to mark National Foundation Day, the festival includes traditional ritual ceremonies—a Mountain Spirit Ritual at Je-dang-gol and a Dangun Ritual at the Dangun Shrine—to pray for the region’s peace and prosperity.
