Gangneung Noodle Festival

The Gangneung Noodle Festival is a premier culinary festival held in Gangneung, the “City of Noodles,” where noodle dishes—such as jang kalguksu, makguksu, jjamppong, and gamja ongsim kalguksu—are more popular than in any other region. The event was widely beloved as the Gangneung Noodle Festival until 2025. In 2026, as it marks its 5th edition, the name was changed to the Gangneung Noodle Festival to make the event more accessible to the public and to better reflect the region’s diverse culinary heritage. In 2026, the festival will run from October 15 to October 18, and will be held on Wolhwa Street. In addition to a food zone where visitors can sample a wide variety of Gangneung’s noodle specialties, the festival will be packed with related attractions and activities, allowing visitors to experience everything from Gangneung’s most famous restaurants to the diverse noodle flavors hidden in every alleyway. With a wide range of activities—including hands-on experiences, exhibitions, competitions, and cooking shows—visitors can fully enjoy the golden autumn of 2026 right here on Wolhwa Street.
