Deoksugung Palace: Seokjojeon at Night

'Deoksugung Palace: Seokjojeon at Night' is a night viewing program at Deoksugung Palace comprising a guided night tour of Seokjojeon, a terrace cafe experience where you enjoy coffee — the 'gabae' that Emperor Gojong loved — and dessert while listening to classical music, and a musical about the imperial household of the Korean Empire. Begun as a pilot in 2021, it was held officially from 2022 on the strength of high satisfaction and response, and has run twice a year since 2023. Guided by a palace attendant, you experience the singular pleasure of travelling back in time into Seokjojeon and the story of the imperial household, and can hold onto the night through photographs taken with enlightenment-era props and through souvenirs — a mixed cultural experience program.
