The Dalseong Daegu Contemporary Art Festival is a contemporary art festival held around Gangjeong Weir, carrying on the spirit of the Daegu Contemporary Art Festival, in which young artists of the 1970s challenged the rigidity of the established art world with all kinds of experiments. Gangjeong, where the festival is held, is significant as the site of Korea's first collective art event: the 3rd Daegu Contemporary Art Festival in 1977, with some 200 participating artists, the largest ever.
