Chilgok Nakdonggang River Peace Festival

The Chilgok Nakdonggang River Peace Festival honors the historical meaning of the Battle of the Nakdonggang River, the last line of defense during the Korean War, and reflects on the spirit of national defense. It runs a range of programs to remember the values of a country that ordinary people risked their lives to defend in 1950 and to thank those who defended it. The 13th edition in 2026 offers performances, hands-on programs and food on the theme of peace, while under the slogan 'A boy becomes a boy soldier' it also presents programs that tell of the young boy soldiers who received relatively little attention behind the student-soldier narrative long held up as a symbol of national defense, honoring their memory and strengthening the festival's historical message of peace.
