Yeosu Dongdongbuk Festival

The Yeosu Dongdong Buk Festival was created to highlight the regional and cultural identity of the Goryeo-era folk song “Dongdong (動動)” and to raise awareness of General Yu Tak (柳濯), a little-known historical figure from Yeosu. The Yeosu Dongdong Drum Festival features a street drum parade, an opening ceremony, performances by invited headliners, a drum competition, special busker performances, citizen fringe performances, master classes for the public, and various other hands-on activities. The hands-on events are open to a wide range of participants, from children to seniors. Among these, the drum parade—in which citizens march through the streets—is gaining increasing popularity year after year as more and more people join in. In addition to the hands-on activities, a diverse range of performances—including EDM shows, concerts by guest artists, and drum performances—have been prepared to provide entertainment for residents.
