Ureuk Cultural Festival

The Ureuk Cultural Festival, which began in 1971 as the Ureuk Arts Festival, is a premier cultural and arts festival that carries on the artistic spirit of the musician Ureuk—embodying song, dance, and music—and offers a chance to experience the culture and arts of Chungju. The 54th Ureuk Cultural Festival, under the slogan “Envisioning Tomorrow’s Chungju Amid the Echoes of Ureuk,” will be held with a “Newtro” concept that offers a modern reinterpretation of the culture and sensibilities of the 1980s and 1990s. Visitors can enjoy performances and art competitions that blend traditional and contemporary art, as well as various exhibitions and hands-on programs, including participatory events that bring together teenagers, young adults, citizens, and local artists. At the festival grounds, visitors can view and experience the creative works of local youth and artists firsthand, and a market will be held where they can enjoy Chungju’s agricultural and specialty products as well as local cuisine. The 54th Ureuk Cultural Festival, where the culture of the past blends with the art of the present, will be held from October 8 to 11, 2026, in the area surrounding Tangeum Park and at the Chungju-si Cultural Center.
