Mungyeong Gaeun Ajagae Market Festival

The 'Gaeun Ajagae Market Festival' runs for three days from Friday October 2 to Sunday October 4 around Gaeun-eup in Mungyeong. Built on the warm market atmosphere of Gaeun Ajagae Market, it is a festival for all generations where food, hands-on programs, performances and exhibitions can be enjoyed in one place: on the eve, Friday October 2, there is a 'Miss Trot 4 Gala Show', and on Saturday October 3 a 'Time Capsule Concert' featuring singers who defined the 1980s and 1990s. On the final day, Sunday October 4, a 'Children's Big Show' for children and families fills the day with something the whole family can enjoy. In particular, to help the local economy, a receipt event linked with nearby businesses lets you taste dishes made by well-known chefs using Mungyeong Yakdol pork. A 'Gaeun Coal Mining History Photograph Exhibition', looking back on the mining history of Gaeun, once a major pillar of Korea's coal industry, is also held; through photographs of miners at work and life in the mining town you can feel vividly the history that underpinned Korea's industrialization and economic growth.
