Chilgok Transmedia Festival

The 4th Chilgok Transmedia Festival is a culture and arts festival held around Waegwan-eup in Chilgok-gun, designed so that the area's spaces and cultural resources can be experienced in new ways by combining them with a range of media content. This year it takes the friendship between the poet Gu Sang and the painter Lee Jung-seob as its theme, extending the lives and work of the two artists into literature, art, media and performance. In particular, rather than concentrating content at a single venue, it runs as a festival of movement, with visitors travelling through everyday spaces across Waegwan-eup to experience the programs. Participants follow a set route and set spaces, encountering exhibitions, media content, hands-on programs and performances in sequence, with the character of each space and its content linked so that they form one festival experience. In doing so it turns ordinary local spaces into places for experiencing culture and art, and reinterprets the area's cultural resources and stories as new content. It also aims to share the value of literature and art through the relationship and work of Gu Sang and Lee Jung-seob, and to give residents and visitors a chance to experience culture and art by walking the spaces of Waegwan for themselves.
