Semiwon Water Lily Culture Festival

The Semiwon Water Lily Culture Festival is a leading autumn garden culture festival held at Semiwon in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do. Semiwon is a garden of water and flowers surrounded on three sides by Paldang Lake, holding traditional East Asian garden forms and a wide range of aquatic plants as Gyeonggi-do's first provincial garden. The festival is held around Semiwon's signature aquatic plant, the water lily, offering distinctive autumn garden viewing. It presents a garden landscape unlike any other, where varied water lilies and aquatic plants come together — the Victoria water lily known as the 'queen of flowers', the exotic Australian water lily and tropical water lilies in every color. Visitors can take in the beauty of lilies blooming above the water and enjoy unhurried rest near the city. In particular, as the host site of the 2026 Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo, it will present even fuller garden culture content. The Semiwon area is a place imbued with the history of the pontoon bridge built by the late-Joseon scholar Jeong Yak-yong, and with facilities including the Lotus Museum, the Jangdokdae Fountain, Sehanjeong and the pontoon bridge, it serves as a mixed cultural space where nature, ecology and the arts come together and as a year-round garden destination.
