National Heritage Media Art: Cheorwon Former Workers' Party Building

National Heritage Media Art Cheorwon Workers' Party Building 2026 is a nighttime arts event that reinterprets the historical value and sense of place of national heritage through media art, staged at the Cheorwon Former Workers' Party Building, which bears the history of the Korean War and national division, and the surrounding Cheorwon History and Culture Park. Its theme is ‘Peace Takes Flight: From Memory to Empathy, Beyond Healing to the Future!’, expressing memories of the past through light and video and delivering a message of peace and healing. The program includes a media façade on the building's exterior walls, interactive media, AR experiences, light installations, AI media art, citizen-participation content and performances. A highlight is ‘Pro PACE: For Peace’ by internationally renowned media artist Jan Ngema, presented to suit the history and character of the site, along with programs that tell Cheorwon's history, literature and citizens' stories through media art and performance. The event is closed every Tuesday and on September 25 (Chuseok Day) during its run, and docent tours by cultural heritage interpreters, special performances and hands-on programs are offered on site.
