Gwangju International Art Fair: Art Gwangju

Art Gwangju is the largest international art fair in the Honam region, surveying the currents of contemporary art in Korea and abroad and the trends of the art market in one place. Galleries, artists and collectors from Korea and overseas gather to present work, discover new artistic value and exchange, making it a hub of culture and arts exchange connecting Gwangju and Jeonnam with the world art scene. It is hosted by Jeonnam-Gwangju and organized by the Gwangju Cultural Foundation and Art Gwangju. Art Gwangju 26 features some 110 galleries from 12 countries in Korea and abroad, including the Middle East and Europe, presenting the many currents of contemporary art across painting, sculpture and media art. In particular, the special exhibitions 'Heroes of Contemporary Art', 'Propose', 'Rising Star' and 'Spectrum' introduce carefully selected works, holdings from local collectors and work by young artists of Gwangju and Jeonnam, extending the fair's value as an exhibition. Beyond a market for buying and selling, Art Gwangju seeks to be a place of international culture and arts exchange for discovering the value of art and new creative work, where the region and the world meet, widening the base of art in Gwangju and Jeonnam and laying a foundation for continued growth.
