Busan Seo-gu Medical Tourism Festival

The 5th Busan Seo-gu Medical Tourism Festival is held over two days on October 16 and 17 around Songdo Ocean Park, co-organized by Seo-gu with Pusan National University Hospital, Dong-A University Hospital, Kosin University Gospel Hospital and Sahmyook Busan Hospital. The festival is intended to share word of Seo-gu, the first 'medical tourism special district' in the Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam area, while laying a foundation for attracting international patients through business consultations and buyer fam tours, and providing residents and visitors with sound health information and a range of medical programs. This year some 60 booths offer health consultations along with exhibitions, promotion and hands-on events. The co-organizing hospitals, public health centers, the National Health Insurance Service and other medical organizations take part, providing visitors with health services and information including physical examinations, stress assessments, herbal medicine pharmacopuncture treatment and advice on taking medication correctly. Together with Busan Technopark, a 'medical and healthcare industry promotion hall' showcases Seo-gu's core projects as a medical special district — its medical R&D knowledge industry center, incubator, regional industry programs and medical validation projects — along with healthcare devices from the innovative companies taking part. On site there are wellness programs for all ages in keeping with a health and wellness concept, including 'slow jogging', 'silent meditation yoga', CrossFit and 'jumping fitness', plus a 'kids doctor experience hall', air sports and other children's health play areas and family-focused hands-on booths, for plenty to see and do. Side events include a 'health talk concert' with a plastic surgery specialist from Kosin University Gospel Hospital, a children's magic and balloon show and giant board games. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m. on October 16, with celebratory performances by An Seong-hun, winner of Mr. Trot 2, the gugak b-boy crew Last Street Crew and pop flautist Seo Ga-bi.
