Korean Dream Hangang River Festival

The Korean Dream Hangang River Festival is a large-scale participatory unification culture event held on the Hangang River in Seoul. The festival approaches unification through art and culture rather than ideological debate, and is designed for people to take part and experience it directly. It offers content across many genres including booth activities, music, performances and a fireworks show, centered on emotive, creative programs that younger and older generations can enjoy together. The organizing committee intends it not as a one-off event but as a turning point for a citizen-led unification movement. Held since 2015 at various locations including Seoul World Cup Stadium in Sangam, the National Assembly lawn and Imjingak, it was held under the name 'Korean Dream Hangang River Festival' on August 15, 2025, and this year marks the second consecutive edition on the river, with plans to develop it into a cultural platform for building shared feeling among the Korean public. The festival is composed so that people take part as participants rather than mere spectators, with an emphasis on conveying the message of unification as something moving in everyday life.
