In Seongnam-dong, where young people once gathered after the area was designated an industrial district and a culture of literature and romance flowered around its tearooms, a special festival on the theme of coffee is held. The Seongnam-dong Coffee Festival is a participatory culture festival for everyone who loves coffee. Held each autumn, it is planned and run by Seongnam-dong merchants and coffee professionals together, and offers hand-drip demonstrations, latte art programs, a brewing competition and tastings from a range of coffee brands. Alongside a coffee performance competition with skilled baristas from across the country, there are hands-on booths for families, live performances and a food market, establishing it as an open festival that anyone can join.
