The Gunsan Jjamppong Festival is the city's signature food festival built on jjamppong, its best-known dish, where you can enjoy the taste of Gunsan jjamppong packed with fresh seafood and abundant local produce. Gunsan jjamppong grew out of 'chomamyeon', a dish Chinese residents made with pork, beef and chicken bone broth into the early 1970s; the fresh seafood of a port city and the spicy chili powder suited to Korean palates turned it into the jjamppong we enjoy today. The site has Chinese food booths and food stalls as well as jjamppong-themed hands-on programs and stage performances, for a distinctive taste and a good time.
