Seongju Gayasan Golden Fields Grasshopper Festival

The Seongju Gayasan Golden Fields Grasshopper Festival, Seongju-gun's signature autumn festival, is a resident-led eco-friendly rural experience festival set against the clean nature of Gayasan and the Daegacheon stream and the golden rice fields. Rural activities include grasshopper catching, a grasshopper observation area, sweet potato digging, apple fishing and catfish catching, alongside an autumn sports day the whole family can join, from children to older adults, with gourd-breaking, jegi kicking, group jump rope and rubber-shoe archery. Hands-on programmes such as garaetteok rice cake pulling, jeolpyeon stamping, a stamp tour, capsule treasure hunts, golden-field treasure hunts, a traditional games yard and a wooden playground run alongside performances including a cotton candy show, a circus challenge and a stilt clown balloon show. Free tastings of livestock products, sales and promotion of local farm specialities, and restaurants and food trucks add to the food and sights.
