The Gyeryong Military Culture Festival is a defense-themed mixed culture event held around the city of Gyeryong, home to the Army, Navy and Air Force headquarters; first held in 2007, it reaches its 16th edition this year. Over five days from Thursday October 1 to Monday October 5, 2026, it opens with performances by top artists including Sohyang and Forestella, followed by military band and honor guard performances and special performances by Army performance teams on the main and secondary stages and across the runway. A road parade on the largest scale yet and a major city-center parade with some 700 participants add to the festival's energy, while visitors can take part directly in military culture content including military equipment and shooting programs, an extreme commando challenge, a full barracks experience and VR and AR programs. Alongside these, a history lecture by Professor Shin Byung-ju, a 20 m large LED special screening hall showing video content and a children's theme park make up a varied program for all ages, presenting a defense culture festival that only Gyeryong can offer.
